Open Positions at the Institute of EMK

At the Institute of Electromechanical Design at the Department of Electro- and Information Technology of Technische Universität Darmstadt, we’re working in the field of microsystem technology (MEMS) and precision engineering. We’re looking at subsystems and components as well as complete systems in research and teaching. This interdisciplinary approach in the fields of mechanics, electronics, material science, production technology, and optics leads to innovative solutions for applications suchs as actuation, sensing, sensor technology, and optical systems.

Open Postions for Research Associates

The Institute of Electromechanical Design is constantly searching appropriate candidates for research associates (aka PhD candidates) and Post Docs.

Prospective candidates should provide an above-average diploma of a university or a very good doctorate accordingly preferably in electrical engineering, information technology, electronics, mechatronics, microsystem technology, mechanical engineering, or physics.

As we’re strongly involved in teaching, German language proficiency is expected at least at level A2. Usually, the positions are fully paid (~43.500 € p.a.), and thus active participation in teaching is expected.

Before applying, please be aware of the specific boundary conditions of doing a PhD in German engineering sciences. Please check DAAD’s pages before applying!

Also, make sure to keep to the conventions of applications in Germany. Provide a CV containing at least key facts of your education and professional experience. List everything and without gaps. Also, provide information on your age, gender, and marital status. And don’t forget to include a recent picture of yours of sufficient size.

In addition, please send recent certificates and a listing of your final marks. We do not need letters of recommendation.

Please make sure to merge all PDF documents together in a single document.

The most important text is a covering letter. Here, you should explain briefly, why you are interested in working with us and give us an impression of you and your working skills as well as your attitude. Write that directly in your e-mail, not in a separate document! Please understand, that we will answer applications that obviously look like a serial letter directly with a generic refusal.
