Analysis of human force perception

Goal of my research is an elaborate technical description of the human haptic perception channel. To develop human-computer-interfaces using the haptic sensory channel, these information are important to design appropiate sensors and actuators.

To determine the performance of the haptic sensory channel, perception studies with volunteers are performed. The novel approach of this DFG-funded project is the use of forces as a stimulus rather than deflections. The studies should take into account various boundary conditions to improve the development of haptic systems.
