Research

My research covers technologies and materials for sensing physical quantities, especially with resisitive sensors. The aim is to describe and compare different approaches from a metrologists point of view. Focus topics are

  • Determination of material properties with low measurement uncertainty
  • Modelling the behaviour of new materials exhibiting piezoresistive behaviour in mechanical, electrical and thermal domain
  • Multi-Domain FEM
  • High precision electronics for sensor readout
  • Designing force or similar sensors for specific tasks, e.g. systems with haptic feedback

  • Entwicklung eines flexiblen Messsystems zur Bestimmung der Zungenlage und des Drucks der Zunge im Bereich des harten Gaumens

Short Biography

Jan Lotichius received his diploma in electrical engineering with a focus on precision engineering from Technische Universität Darmstadt, Germany, in 2011. He is currently working at Technische Universität Darmstadt as a researcher. Since 2014 he is also leader of the group electromechanical sensors within the group of Prof. Kupnik. His research interests include multi-domain-modelling of resistive sensors and high precision electronics for low frequencies.
