Research

The focus of my research is the development of a micromechanical planar rotary drive. In my current project PlateDrive, I use a cilia-based system to convert vibrational movement into a rotary movement. During this project I will focus on:

  • Optimization of a manufacturing-process of parallel tilted carbon fiber arrays
  • Tribological effects of a contact through a carbon fiber array
  • Dynamic bending behaviour of short carbon fibers and the culmulative bending behaviour of carbon fibers in an array

Short Biography

Daniel Thiem received his MSc. in precision engineering form Technische Universität Darmstadt, Germany, in 2016. He is currently research associate in the Micromechatronics and Medical Robotics Group at Technische Universität Darmstadt.
